Our Story

Claddagh Design was founded by award-winning Irish jewellery designer, silver and goldsmith, Eileen Moylan. From her workshop in the south of Ireland, Eileen has been transforming ideas from silver and gold into fine Irish jewellery for over two decades.

Inspired by the craftsmanship of Ireland's past, Eileen explores historic Irish symbols through her contemporary jewellery collection. Using modern design principles, she applies traditional techniques to transform precious metals into timeless creations. Her contemporary creations draw inspiration from renowned artifacts such as the Claddagh ring, ancient Ogham writing, and intricate Celtic knotwork found in treasures such as the Book of Kells, Tara Brooch, and Newgrange World Heritage Site. 

 

 

Eileen's philosophy is simple:

"Ireland inspires every design I create. In our modern world, the focus often falls on disposable items. I founded Claddagh Design with the intention of crafting jewelry meant to be cherished and worn for a lifetime. The incredible Irish artifacts that have endured throughout the centuries offer valuable lessons. By drawing from the beauty and craftsmanship of the past, we can forge extraordinary contemporary pieces that can be enjoyed today and by generations to come." 

 

 

Eileen, a native of County Kerry, was born and raised in the beautiful landscapes of Ireland. After obtaining a degree from Crawford College of Art and Design, she pursued her passion for design by completing a master's degree at the University of Wales. Eager to further hone her skills, she returned to Ireland to train under one of Ireland's few remaining traditional silversmiths.

Driven by her unwavering dedication to crafting high-quality jewellery, Eileen founded Claddagh Design in 2010. Together with her team, she creates exquisite pieces that celebrate special milestones and mark significant moments across the globe.

Sustainability lies at the centre of each design Eileen crafts in the Claddagh Design workshop. Every piece is individually handcrafted using high quality nickel-free recycled precious metals, reflecting a commitment to environmental responsibility. Additionally, great care is taken in the selection of diamonds and precious gemstones ensuring they are as ethically sourced as possible.
