I didn’t buy this pendant so much as stumble into it, like a good song you hear coming out of a late-night pub. The ogham-inscribed silver pendant from Claddagh Design isn’t some polite bit of jewellery that sits quietly and behaves itself. It’s got history in its bones and a bit of a snarl in its grin.
The silver catches the light like moonshine on the Liffey, worn just enough to feel honest, like it’s already lived a life before it found its way to my neck. The ogham script runs sharp and secretive, ancient whispers carved into metal — the kind of writing that knows your name even if you don’t say it out loud. It feels less made and more forged, as if it was hammered out in a back room somewhere between a blessing and a brawl.
There’s romance in it, but not the soft-focus kind. This is hard-earned romance — love letters written in rain, songs sung through broken voices, stories passed down when the bottle’s nearly empty. You don’t wear it to look pretty. You wear it to remember where you come from, or where you wish you did.
Claddagh Design have done something special here. They didn’t just sell me a pendant — they sold me a small rebellion, a scrap of old Ireland, and a silver-backed promise that beauty doesn’t have to be tidy or tame. It’s the sort of thing Shane MacGowan might’ve worn, lost, and sworn blind he never took off.
If jewellery can sing, this one sounds like fiddles at closing time, boots on cobblestones, and a heart that’s still standing after all the damage. Sláinte to that. 🍀

This is a simply gorgeous piece, meticulously made, bright and stunning. The chain runs through the raised Celtic knot so that there is no back or front to the pendant, making it easy for my daughter to put on. I purchased it for her 50th birthday, and she is utterly smitten by its lovely design and overall beauty. And it arrived the day before her birthday.
