The Ogham alphabet dates back to the early medieval period. In use from the 4th to 9th centuries, this mysterious script was the first written form of the Irish (Gaelic) language.
Examples have survived down through the centuries allowing us to decipher their meaning. The original ogham script can be found on the famous Book of Kells and on carved ancient standing stones scattered around Ireland.
